Horizon Day Centre
Located adjacent to the supported living bungalows in Horizon Close, the Horizon Centre provides a complementary base for individual therapy programmes and social activities during evenings and weekends. Recreational assistants support service users to participate in social and recreational activities on Campus and within the wider community. The Centre is a modern and bright building that offers a large multi-functional open-plan area, separate kitchen and a dedicated suite of computers to enable access to the Internet. The main area is bright and spacious with modern furnishings, separate seating areas and plenty of recreational resources including, Nintendo Wii consoles, books, a television and DVDs. Therapists find that the Horizon Centre encourages rehabilitation in a more ‘social’ setting. It is particularly used by service users who have progressed further along the neuro rehabilitation pathway and are living in one of our group environments where the focus is on community, social and vocational rehabilitation. Examples of clubs that are run include gardening, relaxation, quizzes, arts and crafts and an IT club. A variety of evening and weekend activities are organised, and include themed events such as a French night or fish and chips night. Service users are invited to state their preferences for activities and to assist in their organisation. |
