Ebble ward in our Hospital is the first of three stages in our neuro behavioural pathway. Working with Clinical Neuropsychologists, our Consultants in Rehabilitation Medicine assess and develop tailored neuro treatment programmes for patients with challenging behaviour.
Working with Clinical Neuropsychologists, our Consultants in Rehabilitation Medicine assess and develop tailored neuro treatment programmes for patients with challenging behaviour.
Specialist staff, including Registered General and Mental Health trained nurses, work with patients to reduce challenging behaviours via a combination of behavioural and cognitive intervention techniques and reinforce socially acceptable behaviour. As part of treatment programmes, patients are encouraged to join social groups and participate in other group activities.
Patients benefit from a 1:1 staff-to-patient ratio in a purpose-built ward with anti-ligature fixtures and fittings that minimise the risk of harm, including specially weighted furniture and an individually controlled power supply to each bedroom.
The aim is to move patients to our ‘step-down’ ward (Nadder) to continue with their neuro behavioural and rehabilitation programmes.
