Following the completion of an intensive rehabilitation programme in the Hospital (Bourne ward) patients may be discharged to a group living environment in Grovely House or Newlands for community, social and vocational rehabilitation.
Grovely House and Newlands are part of our neuro rehabilitation pathway and are short/medium term stay homes for patients in group living environments where the focus is on community, social and vocational rehabilitation.
Set within the Glenside Campus, both homes provide a homely environment with communal living areas and combine the boundaries of a structured rehabilitation programme, whilst allowing the freedom for individuality. Rehabilitation programmes are combined with skills required for independent living and daily life, such as social interaction, meal preparation and laundry. The planning of social activities is encouraged and facilitated in free time.
With support from specialist neurological rehabilitation assistants and therapists, the homes are designed to progress patients towards increased independence in preparation for returning home, discharging back into the community or moving to a longer-term stay environment to meet their ongoing needs. Alternatively they may continue along our main pathway to one of our supported independent living bungalows, backed up by continuing rehabilitation.
