Professionals flock to first neuro rehabilitation seminar

Professionals in the field of neuro rehabilitation flocked to Glenside Hospital near Salisbury on June 8 for the first in a new series of specialist seminars.

The specialist independent rehabilitation centre, which provides neurological inpatient and outpatient medical care and rehabilitation services to adults who are living with severe physical, cognitive or behavioural impairments, welcomed delegates from across the south as it hosted ‘Outcome Measures in Neuro Rehabilitation’.

Keynote speakers included Dr Anba Soopramanien and Dr Nick Moffat, who focused on complex care for patients in a minimally conscious state. Dr Koko Naing, who provides talks across the world, also spoke at the event and gave delegates an update on outcome measures in neuro behavioural rehabilitation.

Delegates were given tours of Glenside Hospital, where five separate wards based over eight acres of Wiltshire countryside cater for people at various stages of rehabilitation for acquired or traumatic brain injuries.

Glenside Hospital launched the seminar series as part of its continual drive to place innovation, training and researched-based therapies at the heart of its work. As well as providing its 350 staff with the latest training, Glenside Hospital opens its doors to doctors, nurses, physicians and others involved in the industry, to share its expertise.

Andrew Norman, CEO of Glenside Hospital, said: “Feedback from delegates on this first seminar was very positive. We are delighted to be able to host such useful events and hope that they will become a firm fixture in people’s calendars as they continue throughout the year.
